Site d'Escalade de Costaros

53 Routes for experienced climbers, the Costaros climbing site is a place where you can indulge your passion in a peaceful and green setting.
The impressive Costaros cliff, which is one of the two chimneys of the Bartou volcano, is equipped with 53 double or triple length routes (96 in total). It is a site at 900m altitude facing south-east, classified as sporty by the French Mountain and Climbing Federation and suitable for “advanced” and “advanced” levels.

The rock, basaltic trachy-andesite, is relatively “catchy” and can offer beautiful roughness on the easiest routes. The configuration of the wall in long and high columns also makes this site interesting; the collapsed lower part creates magnificent overhangs, large roofs suspended above the void and sometimes comfortable tables for restarting the following pitches!

Created in the 80s, this site was re-equipped in 2012, and today allows safer climbing. Quite large, it is more suitable for somewhat experienced climbers. The wall made of columns, sometimes continuous, sometimes collapsed, allows a very wide variety of types of routes.

In addition to the intrinsic beauty of the place, the landscapes to be admired from the tracks are magnificent. Not to mention the diversity of raptors and birds that share the cliff with climbers, such as the peregrine falcon recognizable by its shrill cry!
