Des Fustes en Pays du Mézenc – Gîte Epicéa

A fuste is constructed of barrels (tree trunks) stacked and crisscrossed in a perfect assembly, each trunk fitting harmoniously according to the curvatures of the trunk which precedes it to form a waterproof and solid wall. Green roof.

After building his own log house, Johane took up the chainsaw again to create two additional chalets which he converted into furnished accommodation (Epicéa in 2012 and Douglas in 2017).

Located at an altitude of 1200 m, in the heart of the Mézenc plateau, where you can practice many outdoor activities in a preserved environment. It is located in a place called “Le Pâtural des Chiers”, a small hamlet a stone’s throw from the village of Fay-sur-Lignon where you will find shops and services.

Many activities nearby: hiking, horse riding, fishing, mountain biking, alpine skiing and Nordic skiing (Estables station 20 minutes away), snowkiting, snowshoeing, sled dogs, CLIMBING (Les Roches site 5 minutes away), ice rink, museums and eco-museums, discovery of local heritage… As well as the beautiful town of Puy-en-Velay 30 minutes away.

Each barrel has:
– a living room, including a fitted kitchen and a lounge area with television and double sofa bed 2 x 160.
– a bedroom with 1 bed 160 x 200
– a bedroom with 2 beds 90 x 190 (possibility of sleeping 180).
– a bathroom with walk-in shower and WC.
– a terrace with a table bench, a barbecue, parasol.
– a Scandinavian bath

Electric heating and wood stove (wood provided). Loan of snowshoes for the winter.
