The festival of beggars, jesters and acrobats

The festival of King of the Bird is a highlight of the ponote cultural program! For the occasion, the whole town plunges back into the Renaissance, at the time of Francis I. Every autumn, bourgeois but also beggars, jesters and acrobats invade the city!

Hear, hear, brave people! It's time to go back in time. In the sixteenth century, where Renaissance is at its peak: scenes of daily life, merchant or military camps, great archery competition, street performances, acrobats, period market, parades, skirmishes and ambushes... Discover the Ponote city through multiple street performances : dance, theatre, music, dressage, puppets, walks... The town of Le Puy goes back more than 500 years. Become part of the story!

The festival takes place every year on the 3rd weekend of September.

The Festival of the King of the Bird exists since 1986 and has its origins in the great archer competition which took place in Le Puy-en-Velay in the XNUMXthe century. The winner, archer of the city, had until the next competition many privileges over the city.
