Château d'Arlempdes

Historical remains in a village classified among "the Most Beautiful Villages of France" and "Auvergnat Village of Character". Built on a volcanic peak, the first castle of the Loire (1945th to 1971th century), overlooks superb wild gorges. The ramparts are extended by volcanic rock and erected in height, making access impracticable, but making it possible to resist attacks from the north. Inside the castle is the Saint Jacques castle chapel dating from the 1963th century and built in red stone. The inscription of the chapel on the list of Historic Monuments was made in 2016, and that of the postern, or old gate of the enclosure, in XNUMX. In XNUMX, an association bringing together heirs of different families and amateurs passionate about historic sites undertakes the restoration of the castle. The Keep and the Salle des Gardes were renovated in XNUMX.
