Prieuré de Chanteuges

The Saint-Marcellin abbey was founded in 936. In 1137 the monastery became dependent on the powerful abbey of La Chaise Dieu. At the end of the XNUMXth century, Abbot Jacques de Sénecterre had a dwelling, a chapel and pottery built.
The Benedictine monks live smoothly until the arrival of Ithier de Mandulphe, lord of Digons who reigns supreme from 1130 to 1137 and converts the monks to pillage. It will take the intervention of the Abbey of La Chaise Dieu for the abbey to regain its tranquility.
