Chapelle Saint-Roch
About
The Saint-Roch chapel is built on the famous road to Santiago de Compostela, located at approximately 1077 meters above sea level.
The original oratory was built thanks to the Montlaur family. It is mentioned for the first time in a document from the Hôtel-Dieu dated 1213 and then in an Archive of the Templars in 1217.
Saint-Bonnet, who gave his name to the hamlet, became its first patron saint. Later, the sanctuary passes under the name of Saint Roch. It was remodeled several times in the 15th century; 16th century and 20th century.
Inside, the visitor can admire beautiful woodwork (1935) surrounding the choir....
