Château de Volhac

For more than a thousand years, the castle – or fortified house – of Volhac has proudly erected its watchtowers and machicolations on the banks of the Loire. A former stronghold intended to guard the passage of the river, its eventful destiny reflects the great times in the history of Velay.
Transformed during the Renaissance into a cheerful resort, its architecture retains the defensive and residential character of the noble houses of Velay.
