The village of Blesle, classified among the most beautiful villages of France, finds its origin in the foundation of a Benedictine abbey of women founded in the XNUMXth century. If the fortress built by the barons of Mercœur remains only dungeon, towers and surrounding wall, half-timbered houses and carved doors still bear witness to the medieval past of the village.
The maze of cobbled streets will lead the visitor to contemplate St. Peter's Church (XNUMXth century) and its wall paintings, Saint Martin church (XNUMXth century) and the Mercoeur Tower. The many winegrowers' houses, corbelled half-timbered houses, lintels surmounted by pediments are all characteristics of this medieval village which was one of the " thirteen good towns of Auvergne in the thirteenth century.
The Hairdressing Museum
Along by the Seeuze, the village also presents nearly 700 headdresses, hats and traditional costumes of the great Massif Central (10 departments) in its Headdress Museum.
