Cascade de la Beaume
About
The Cascade de la Beaume, A refreshing walk in a spectacular site!
The waterfall is located near the village of Agizoux, 900 meters above sea level, between Solignac-sur-Loire and Brignon by the RD 54.
It is the result of erosion: the waters of the Ourzie river cut into the basalt of the plateau and spring from the top of the cliff to fall 27 m lower and give birth to the Beaume, a tributary of the Loire. Pleasant walk with belvedere platform.
Lava flows-The basalt valley. The path takes you through walls of dark rocks which represent the old lava flows constituting the vast volcanic plateau which overlooks you. It is the stream that during its history has dug enough to leave in place only imposing cliffs dominated by volcanic organs. The site of the waterfall testifies to the work of wear started by the stream on a large rock mass where the organs remind us that the gray basalt was molten lava.
