The Allier, one of the last salmon rivers in France

In the Allier, salmon is king! Although it is becoming increasingly rare... In order to preserve this species threatened with extinction, many actions are undertaken in the Gorges de l'Allier: such as at the National Conservatory of Wild Salmon in Chanteuges or at the Salmon House and the river at Brioude.

Paddling in the Allier, where the salmon go up

The mission of the conservatory is to repopulate the Allier and some rivers with this fish that has lived alongside man since prehistoric times. Educational and fun, the National Wild Salmon Conservatory of Chanteuges welcomes you in July and August to discover this fish which bears witness to the biodiversity of our rivers and contribute to its preservation.
