An entry into the GTMC which begins on the banks of the Allier and rises gently towards Gévaudan to join the mythical crossing on the southern borders of the Haute-Loire.
Description
Throughout the day, the path first evolves above the Allier. The perched village of Chanteuges seems to watch over the valley from the top of its promontory.
Slowly, the basaltic organs give way to the granitic chaos characteristic of the Margeride.
Halfway, Saugues is an obligatory stop to stroll through the historic center.
The scent of Narcissus will then accompany you to the gates of the Domaine du Sauvage, junction with the historic route.
Route
Departure from Langeac for this GTMC mountain bike connection. We follow the Allier by the quays, then the route takes wide paths, alternating with small portions of roads between the fields up to Chanteuges and Bourleyre. A pretty balcony path then goes up the Allier valley with lovely views. We climb to reach the Margeride plateau in Charraix. The stage then offers shaded paths in the pine forest and wide, sometimes tarmac paths between pastures. The junction with the main route is near the Domaine du Sauvage.
