900 km from Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe to Mont Saint-Michel
This European cultural route wishes to connect two important Michaelic sites over a distance of nearly 900 km: the Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe rock and Le Mont-Saint-Michel. Currently, the route is marked and can be taken from Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire) to Ebreuil (Allier).
The Saint Michel d'Aiguilhe rock is the starting point for this hike. A dizzying first step! After climbing the steps of the volcanic peak to the chapel dedicated to the Archangel St-Michel and embracing the panoramic view of the city of Puy-en-Velay, we set off on this route, still confidential.
This trail also revives an old pilgrim way by which in the past pilgrims coming from the northern part of France and from even further afield, joined Le Puy-en-Velay in order to leave for Santiago de Compostela.
