From Mont Gerbier de Jonc
We learned it, repeated on the school benches, like a beautiful lesson in geography: "The Loire has its source at Mont-Gerbier de Jonc". And life-size, it's wow! The GR 302 runs along the Loire, from its stream of water which is born on the borders of the Ardèche, to become a wild river in the gorges of Issarlès in Goudet and then extend its bed from Puy-en-Velay.
A 10-day hike, with varied elevation, over a distance of approximately 170 km to Aurec-sur-Loire.
