Regordane Way or Path of Tolerance

A person hikes under the sun on the Chemin de Régordane (GR700) in Haute-Loire, Auvergne

Between Puy-en-Velay and Saint-Gilles-du-Gard, the Régordane path invites you to travel 240 km through the history of France, to discover the people and the landscapes that nature has shaped over time.
Also called "path of Saint-Gilles", this hike carried the quest of thousands of men through one of the greatest pilgrimages of medieval Christianity. It was also the path of merchants and muleteers who left their traces in the rock by the repeated passage of carts.

The origin of the name "Régordane" remains mysterious, it is however associated with the concept of Tolerance based on cultural diversity and sponsored by UNESCO
This Cévennes section of the road that linked Île-de-France to Bas Languedoc in the year 843 passes through mythical territories laden with legends: Velay, Margeride, the Cévennes crossing in Lozère the villages of La Bastide-Puylaurent and Villefort then Gardonnenque, Costières and Petite Carmargue.
In Haute-Loire, the GR®700 extends over 34 km from Puy-en-Velay to Pradelles, thus leaving Auvergne, crossing Occitanie to take the direction of the Mediterranean.
