Forteresse de Polignac

The impregnable Fortress of Polignac offers a striking spectacle, it is one of the most majestic places in France.
Unique defensive system, farmyard, main courtyard, 32 meter high keep are the main stages of a circuit made up of 14 points of interest which takes the visitor to discover this magnificent 3 hectare site.
The fortress, which was visited by François 1st in 1533, was abandoned in the 17th century in favor of the Château de Lavoûte Polignac, the new residence of a family many of whose members left their mark on the history of France. Among them, the Duchess de Polignac, favorite of Queen Marie-Antoinette, but also Cardinal de Polignac, French ambassador to Poland and Rome, and Prince Jules de Polignac, minister of Charles X.

The ticket office is located on Place Princesse de Polignac at the foot of the ramparts, you can buy your entry tickets to collect an access token to the Fortress.
Last entry one hour before closing.

From July 06 to August 30 every day at 10:30 a.m. and 15:00 p.m.
June and September: weekend at 15:00 p.m.
All year round by reservation for groups (minimum 15 people)

The sale of entrance tickets ends one hour before the closing of the site.
Payment by credit card only in July and August.
Free for teachers on school outings.
