Craponne-sur-Arzon – Centre Historique

In the heart of Auvergne, north of Haute-Loire and only a few kilometers from the neighboring departments, Loire and Puy-de-Dôme, the town of Craponne-sur-Arzon is nestled on a granite plateau at the northern end of the Pays du Velay.
The old center of Craponne-sur-Arzon dates from the Middle Ages. There remains from this period the gate tower, called the Dungeon. Two XNUMXth century towers (Pasturel and Marchédial) are also still present and testify to the fortifications present at that time.
The Society for History, Archeology and Geology of the Craponne Region regularly introduces visitors to this heritage during guided tours.
A free “paper” visitor guide is also available at the Tourist Information Office.
