Description

On leaving Geneva, the pilgrim traces his route through a hilly landscape of bocage offering views of the snow-capped peaks of the Jura. The Rhône then presents its hillsides carpeted with vineyards and its drained marshes cultivated with poplars. The climate there is so mild that it is referred to as the "little Provence of Savoy".

After the green hills of Bas-Dauphiné where the horizon is dotted with mountain peaks, the walker reaches the foothills of the Pilat massif. Then, orchards and vineyards give way to plateaus and pastures. As we move deeper into Haute-Loire, the volcanic imprint little by little takes possession of the landscape, large basalt organs or volcanic peaks. The surrounding forest envelops the hiker in its dense and welcoming coat. Arrival in Le-Puy-en-Velay
