Established in Estreys since July 5, 2021, the Bughes Distillery specializes in the artisanal production of spirits: Pure Malt, Whiskey, white alcohol and verbena liqueurs (family plantation).
The Distillerie des Bughes is above all a family adventure. Originally, two brothers were passionate about distillation, the eldest, Pierre-Henry Mayoux giving the virus to the youngest, Bérenger Mayoux. This passion, Bérenger will transform it into a full-time activity in his garage to start in 2017.
Since then, the Distillerie des Bughes was installed in the old station of Solignac sur Loire, but the premises began to be too minimalist in relation to the production equipment. They therefore settled in Les Estreys which is in the town of Polignac in the heart of the Haute-Loire, where he has more space. His companion, Marion, having joined him in 2017, was able to switch from eight 8-litre stills to a 300-litre Cognac still, in hand-hammered copper.
Marion and Bérenger are happy to welcome you to the Distillerie des Bughes to present their know-how, share their passion and introduce you to their products. These quality artisanal products are the result of several chemical reactions (malting, brewing, fermentation) and a chemical process: distillation. You will dive into a universe where plant matter is sublimated by copper and wood. Not curious abstain!
The products currently offered are Pure Malts (peated and unpeated), their whiskeys which are series with a number of bottles of less than 600 (next release November 2021), white spirits (Gin Altitude or Vodka Bérézina), Réunion Rum as well as their Verbena liqueurs. You will find peated or unpeated Pure Malts, a gourmet verbena liqueur and the other fine and complex made for the Marcon house in Saint Bonnet le Froid.
