A blue eye set in a forest setting at the birth of the Allier gorges, Lac du Bouchet, of volcanic origin, offers one of the most beautiful landscapes in Haute-Loire. Its 45 hectares of water and its luxuriant nature are the ideal playgrounds for outdoor activities.

With its grassy beach and its supervised bathing from July 1 to August 31, Bouchet lake is a paradise of idleness. Perched at an altitude of 1 m, it is a haven of freshness on hot summer days. On board a pedal boat or stand up paddle, getting some fresh air at Lac du Bouchet also means enjoying unspoiled nature and water of exceptional quality, which is regularly checked.
Precisely, the Bouchet lake is also a beautiful fishing spot with boat rental. The fish population is mainly composed of trout (rainbow and fario), the other species being a minority (cristivomer, roach, perch). Regular restocking of rainbow trout is assured throughout the year for the pleasure of all anglers, alone or with family.

With its 3 km circumference and its walking paths (PR 655, PR 310, GR 40), the Bouchet lake offers several options for hiking, running or mountain biking. Easy and flat, the walk around the lake is accessible for the whole family! With the Land of Art and History of Haut-Allier, it is even possible to take advantage of a guided tour.
For the youngest who don't feel like walking, a play area with slide and swing allows them to let off steam! And finally for the more sporty, it is good to know that Lac du Bouchet is also a spot for Triathlon where every year, a competition is organized at the beginning of July.
The icing on the cake, the flat path laid out all around the lake is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. And all around, benches invite walkers to relax while keeping an eye on the former volcano crater which each autumn, dressed in warm colors, takes on the appearance of canadian landscapes...
Peckish ? No problem ! the Lac du Bouchet restaurant and ice cream bar, open from April to mid-November, with a terrace and panoramic view, offers something to eat for hungry visitors.
