MONDAY :

Morning: installation.

Afternoon: Visit the Fantastic Museum of the Beast of Gévaudan – you will enter fully into the history of this famous Beast which really existed. You will find the atmosphere of an era, the fear of the populations, the landscapes and the characters, perhaps the Beast…. throughout a journey through the 22 scenes that tell this fantastic story.

TUESDAY :

Morning: Guided tour of Saugues – with Aurore, tour guide of the “Land of Art and History” you will discover the historical past of this stronghold of Gévaudan, and its granite architecture will no longer hold any secrets for you. This fun discovery can be completed by a visit to the “Tour des Anglais” and offers a beautiful panorama of the landscapes of Margeride and presents exhibitions on local life: wool, mushrooms.

Afternoon: Walk in the footsteps of the Beast: Bernard Soulier will guide you from the Stele of Jean Chastel to the Sogne d'Auvers where the famous Beast was killed, he will take the opportunity to give you his version of the facts.

“History and legends of the Beast” vigil: the outing will continue in the evening with a conference-debate around “the Beast”. An update on the history, the legend and a staging to feel the fear and the courage of the children who encountered it.

WEDNESDAY :

Morning: Outing to Mont Mouchet (from May 1 to September 30) 1/2 day or full day. The National Museum of the Resistance: In the spring of 1944, Lucien and Pierrot, two Resistance fighters, joined one of the five resistance fighters in France at Mont Mouchet. Their mission is to prevent the German army based in the south from advancing towards Normandy. By following the story of these two comic book characters, you will discover the major events that marked this memorial site. Guided tour by a tour guide.

Afternoon: The educational trail - a leader will accompany you on a 3 km loop through the Margeride forest to discover the fauna, flora, water and forest themes.

THURSDAY :

Morning: Calligraphy workshop – Raymonde Gauché, after introducing you to the different scripts, will introduce you to calligraphy. Each student will leave with their first name in Caroline, uncial, or Gothic script…

Afternoon: Saint Lucia wolf park – the visit allows you, depending on the time of year, to observe the attitudes of the different packs. Follow the specialists who will inform you about the behavior of this super predator. Inside the museum you can watch several audiovisual documentaries on the themes of the wolf through the seasons, tales and legends, without forgetting the Beast of Gévaudan.

FRIDAY :

Morning: Lamb market and traditional market: Friday morning you can freely go to the covered market to witness transactions between breeders and traders. Then you can stroll around the church to discover local products: cheeses, cold meats, etc.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS :

– The 18th century: the life of people in Saugues at that time.
– The old regions and their limits: Gévaudan, Auvergne, Velay.
– The war of 39/45, particularly the Resistance.
