Clinging to an ancient volcano, the Rochelambert Castle looks like a castle from "Sleeping Beauty". Standing on the side of a cliff and nestled in lush greenery, this magnificent Renaissance castle seems straight out of a fairy tale.

The present castle was built in fifteenth century on the foundations of an old XNUMXth century feudal castle. Originally, the Vellaunes (or vellaves) tribe occupied the site with their important oppidum. The family of Rochelambert was installed there since the origin of the building, in the 1922th century, until XNUMX.

This castle steeped in history lets you discover its collections of Romanesque and Gothic sculptures, tapestries, paintings, furniture from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century, weapons, armor. From room to room, we are conquered by the stories that abound in these walls.

Did you know ? The writer George Sand in person even stayed there for a few hours! A room in the building bears his name and is dedicated to him.

The castle is open all year round by reservation (closed on Mondays). Visits are limited to 10 people.
