Idea n°1: a breakfast at the Auberge des Calades
Located in the center of Estables, The Calades Inn offers 5 bedrooms authenticity and warm with a mountain character, but also a generous and friendly table, which gives pride of place to local producers. Open for lunch and dinner (depending on reservations), it is also possible to enjoy a breakfast hearty (always on reservation), garnished with local products: honey from the Ruchers du Mézenc, jams from the Domaine des Marmottes, local cheeses...
Idea n°2: a walk in the village of Estables and its local produce shops
It is impossible to leave Estables without a gourmet souvenir of the Mezenc : honey, jam, cheese, charcuterie, herbal tea, pasta, verbena, beer… but also pottery, photographs, soaps, shampoos…. The choice is endless! Head to the local shops to shop around: Honey and hive products, The Farmers of Mézenc, the herbalist and brasserie “La Pastorale” or even the pottery workshop and photos by Daniel Rault, at the foot of the slopes. There is something for every taste !
Idea n°3: A lunch in the heart of the Nordic area, at the Forest House
What could be more practical than staying on the slopes for the meal break? There Forest house is indeed a gîte, but also a restaurant, with a view of the unspoilt nature of the Mézenc. THE Chef Francois Nicaise prepares dishes based on fresh and local products faithful to the Altiligerian and Ardèche terroirs. Local and gourmet cuisine! On the practical side: the House can accommodate groups of up to 60 people in its large room and has a large terrace with around forty seats.
Idea n°4: a snack or dinner at the Atelier, at the foot of the ski slopes
Whether before, after or between downhill skiing, there is always something to eat at the Workshop. For breakfast from 9 a.m., lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, the restaurant team selects local products cooked on site. Even the ice creams, pastries and breads are made by them! Their “La Burle” beer is even brewed at the foot of the Mézenc! With all this, a gourmet break is essential!
