PR 620 – Le Serpent d'Or
The Golden Snake is a circuit for everyone. A true concentrate of history, legends and nature both domesticated and virgin, the whole being assembled for the pleasure of all the senses.
Description
1 – Take the wide dirt road to the left of the access road to the Saint-Claude signal. At the fork, an explanatory panel marks the start of the discovery trail. First between cultivated land and pastures, the path soon reaches the woods. Reach a road.
2 – Follow it to the right until the crossroads.
3 – Use the grassy path on the left which enters the Breuil national forest. Then follow the bank on the right and reach a small road.
4 – Take this path which winds between the trees to the banks of the Breuil pond. Then follow the bank on the right and reach a small road.
5 – Cross it and find the path which enters the woods again. Cross over the Senouire using a footbridge. The path crosses a forest road and continues under the trees. After a steep path, come out on a perpendicular path.
6 – Go left. The path curves to the right, then emerges into a clearing.
7 – Turn right at the edge, then re-enter the woods. Pass near an old grain granary of the abbey and soon return to the starting point.
