The fortress of Saint-Vidal stands just 10 km from Le Puy-en-Velay

Le fortified castle of Saint-Vidal, dated XNUMXth century, is one of the jewels of military architecture in Auvergne and one of the best preserved. First built as a fortified house, then transformed into an imposing fortress in sixteenth century, it is an emblematic place of Velay, Haute-Loire and a major place of history, which was also the scene of many clashes, especially during the troubled period of the religious wars.

Dormant for 20 years, it is once again opening its doors to offer a real journey through time... through free or guided tours (from April to October and during the All Saints holidays), but also, through a wandering show in the heart of the thousand-year-old fortress. What if together we retrace 1 years of history?
