Located less than an hour from Clermont-Ferrand, Brioude definitely has it all! A modern and contemporary art center with event exhibitions, outdoor concerts on the banks of the Allier where it is good to relax and painting festivals where many talents are revealed... Welcome to Brioude, a small city of great culture !

Great art, with its modern and contemporary art center Le Doyenné

For several years, the Deanery contributes to making Brioude a center of culture. Located near the famous St. Julian's Basilica , the old medieval building rehabilitated into a center of contemporary art after major works, reveals to the public more grandiose exhibitions each year. Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Nicolas de Staël or even Picasso!

Great masters of the XNUMXth century have recently succeeded one another there. Rare works, skilfully staged by Jean-Louis Prat, exceptional exhibition curator. With him, each year, Le Doyenné and its prestigious XNUMXth century emblazoned ceiling reveal all their splendor, magnified by the talent of great names in contemporary painting.

Music, with concert picnics at La Bageasse

A gourmet and musical break on the banks of the Allier. Or rather DES! Since the traditional picnic concerts in La Bageasse multiply. There is now one every Tuesday evening in the summer, in July and August.

The concept, meanwhile, is always the same. All you have to do is sit down with your feet in the water or “Lunch on the Grass” style to savor your snack, all in front of musicians who are never the same. Jazz, blues, variety, folk, rock, pop… every Tuesday its band and its music for moments of sharing with friends or family that smell like the holidays.

Colors, with the Biennial of watercolors every 2 years!

How to talk about Brioude without mentioning its famous Biennial of watercolors ?
Every two years, it transforms the Cité Saint-Julien into a huge free exhibition. Rhythmed with encounters with some forty local and international artists from all over the city, the Biennale offers moments of sharing, workshops and events for all ages to learn about the art of watercolor and its techniques. With the Biennale, painting becomes a party!
