Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille is “the place to be” in the first half of August! Indeed, the brass resonate! It pulsates, it swings and it grooves at all the windows, on every street corner and even on stage! Anyway, we were there!
Monastier Festival: the place to Brass!
Every year this pretty “Small town of character” bends over backwards to receive the cream of brass musicians from France and around the world. Some even come to perfect their skills in the festival's "master-classes".
And yes, the Monastier-sur-Gazeille in August, it's brass in all their forms… and we assure you that the palette is wide! They have an unfortunate tendency to marry perfectly with all styles: from baroque to afro-jazz, from Balkan music to that of New Orleans...
In the four corners of the village, a change of scenery is guaranteed! At the abbey castle, on the place of the convent, or in the church or at the Brass room (the hall), festival-goers and musicians parade. Each place has its own atmosphere. And all you have to do is let yourself be lulled by the music and enjoy the talent of the artists.
The good news is that there is something for everyone! So with family or friends, come and swing at Le Monastier in the middle of summer.
