The Loire Sauvage on foot

Inaugurated on August 31, 1947, the GR®3 was the first long-distance hiking trail btrade winds of France from its source to the Gerbier-de-Jonc in Ardèche to La Baule in Loire-Atlantique .
Today, a first section has been marked out in both directions and allows you to go up or down the still young and wild Loire through the gorges it has shaped from the Monts d'Ardèche regional natural park to the gates from Saint Etienne
Two options are offered to the hiker who wishes to interfere in these gorges.
First, the GR3…Leaving from Aurec-sur-Loire, it goes up the course of the Loire to its source, Mont Gerbier de Jonc. With a distance of 230km, the GR can be covered in 12 days depending on the stages.
Then its variant, the GR302! 205km, the hike follows the natural course of the Loire from the foot of Mont Gerbier de Jonc to Saint-Etienne.
