Crossing the Massif Central through the parks
This GR®7 is a mischievous route which zigzags on the territorial limits of the Haute-Loire between Forez, Velay and Vivarais!
Here is a hike that has chosen to meander on the watershed line between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The path therefore runs alongside the sources of many rivers and rivers: Loire, Ardèche, Allier, Lot and Tarn.
The GR®7 connects 2 national parks: that of Pilat in the Loire and that of the Cévennes, dominated by Mont Lozère and Mont Aigoual. In Haute-Loire, it zigzags on the bordering heights of Auvergne, between Forez, Velay and Vivarais.
Omnipresent forests, ridges or high volcanic plateaus, this path connects the panoramic views sometimes on the Ardèche, sometimes on the Haute-Loire. An evolution in altitude with an alternation of small picturesque villages far from the hustle and bustle of the cities. Beyond the Haute-Loire, once past the Estables ski resort and the Croix de Boutières, the call to Mont-Gerbier-de-Jonc, where the Loire has its source, becomes urgent.
